School Labs

The Digital Fabrication Laboratory was established at Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys with funding and sponsorship from Qatar Development Bank and is concerned with teaching a STEM-focused curriculum through a projectbased learning strategy that includes practical application of the steps of engineering design processes. Students then turn their ideas and projects into products using 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC manufacturing machines to side machines and hand tools that can be used to manufacture, install and test products that students design to find practical solutions to the problems they are working on.

This laboratory is concerned with teaching stem orientation through a project-based learning strategy that includes the construction and programming of different types of robots and robotic arms such as Lego Robotics, VEX Robotics, Tetrix Robotics, Arms Robotics and many more. The curriculum applied in the Robotics and Automation Laboratory also teaches students the principles of automation, programming and control of industrial processes using self-control and artificial intelligence applications, and contributes to preparing students to participate in competitive robot competitions at the national, regional and global level.

The AR Lab at Qatar School of Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys offers a unique and innovative learning experience for students by offering lessons in scientific and engineering materials in an interactive and interesting way. Students use 3D glasses and Z-Space devices to identify many scientific concepts in an interactive and exciting way that enables them to study the composition of organisms, devices and engineering, such as engines, vehicles and other devices in an applied way that helps deepen their scientific concepts.

Qatar School of Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys was sponsored by ExxonMobil-Qatar, and teaches STEM-focused experiments and application projects focused on sustainable energy solutions, such as wind, solar, hydrogen, thermal energy and many other renewable energy sources. The laboratory contains many simulators and tools for different experiments related to environmentally friendly energy sources. It provides an environment conducive to the creation of advanced products that meet current energy challenges and help develop research and creative thinking among students.

The school›s computer science curriculum is concerned with the application of stem methodology in teaching the principles of computer science and programming in different languages, including Python, Scratch and JAVA. It also contributes to the development of computational thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking in students. It also includes the practical applications of computer science through the programming and engineering of devices, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other devices and their use in scientific projects carried out by students in the school.

The curriculum applied in the Biomedical Laboratory at Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys provides stem-oriented practical experiences in the fields of life sciences, biotechnology and physiology. Through experiments, students explore the synthesis of genetic material and biotechnology applications such as PCR and gene transfer from one organism to another, Genetic Transformation, and modification of genetic material, Recombinant DNA technology, genetic engineering applications, along with experiments and applications associated with understanding the way the human body works by studying the anatomy and functions of the body›s organs.

The biology laboratory is a modern research infrastructure, providing a broad range of biological and biochemical techniques with in-depth practical training offered by experienced staff. Important routine work is on microbial and molecular analyses and biological sample preparation in general. Several special applications, such as respiration experiments, enzyme kinetics, sterile culturing of microalgae, morphological taxonomic determination of fish larvae, or fatty acid sample preparation to characterize the nutritional status and composition of marine plankton.

The chemistry lab helps and contribute students to the study of practical experiments using the AP- STEM curriculum and assists in the work of various student activities in addition to research activities by providing the necessary chemicals, equipment and modern and advanced devices that enable students to have a good understanding and design thinking, ease the collection and analysis of data

The role of the Physics Laboratory at Qatar School of Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys is to provide students with basic knowledge and skills in physics and STEM materials by linking theoretical physical concepts given in Stem and AP curriculum, to practical applied experiments where the concepts of physical sciences are explained through engineering solutions and linked to technology and mathematics such as: Bridge construction experiments, electric circuit experiments, gears and mechanical crane construction experiments.
